Ah, of *course* the chiptune cover of "May It Be" from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJVoshxQM_A was from an earlier game of theirs. Should've figured as much...

...Though not *much* earlier, apparently, since the buried title screen in this one also shows a 2003 copyright date. (Who knows, maybe this was a quick hack made after they made the GBA one...weirder things have happened with bootleg games...)

Another random aside: Frodo's first name and surname get mashed up, in both the Chinese and broken-English text, to become "Rojins" (羅金斯 Luojinsi), in what I can only assume is a completely futile attempt to distance the game from Tolkien's work (never mind the movie stills in the intro!). Not surprisingly, this name was maintained in the GBA game as well.

Thanks to you and Shazam for the Zook Z! bring back memories of 2001 (I used to have the Chinese Version cartridge but aaaaargh!).

Hopefully someday that the English Version of Zook Hero 1 & 2 and Rockman & Crystal will be dumpable.

I just discovered this site and I've got to say, it's really amazing. I run a review show that covers a lot of bootlegs and I thought the proverbial well had run dry but now i have a ton of material thanks a ton for dumping all of these.

Glad that Zook Hero Z finally got dumped for people to enjoy. We certainly went through enough carts containing the damn thing.

How come you still haven't been able to fix the original Vast Fame version of Zook Hero Z, after several years? Also, I'm wondering if you could dump Zook Hero 2? Rockman 3 (Li Cheng version), and Rockman X3 are dumped, but not Zook Hero 2 (although, Rockman 3 is on a obscure Chinese website, I don't remember where, and I also remember it was named something with like "with 'avitar' of enemies" or something like that with 'avatar' being misspelled, also along with it had a manual of the Game Doctor 7 in a .rar file)

because i haven't, i guess vast fame's mapper is harder to figure out than sintax's or li cheng.

Can someone provide the Rockman DX3/Zook 2 manuals. What did they named the Robot Masters in English?

I've never seen an English manual for Zook 2.. there's a version called Rockman Zero with an English box which I guess might come with one, but I'm not sure, I don't have it.

I got a suggestion for mappers to use to fix Zook Hero 2. Here's a list of ROMs you try:
*Best ROM suggestions are at bottom.*
- Any, and most all bootleg game ROM dumps
- Only DMG game to use: Bomb Jack
- Any Mario GBC game, or accessory tool (with him being an Easter Egg, sorta, in it; basically even like generic Nintendo games; NOT INCLUDING any of the official Pokemon games {I do not suggest these because they would have too perfect of programming to fix up a raw dump of a bootleg game, even including a Vast Fame game. Bootleg games have too broken of programming, and/or almost somewhat, mostly Sachen, is that may have a somewhat custom programming language from DMG or GBC. I noticed that Sachen, definitely probably with their multicarts, tends to overuse math, rather than function operation. This could somewhat be why some games on that multicart, that's dumped of their's, of the 8-in-1s, has some games that don't work on emulators, like their DMG game, "Flea War". I already screwed up two things already (not literally, it's just a figure of speech). One, I overstated something I was going to talk later, two, I was going to mention about how I've really much more better at programming GameBoy ROMs, when I *have* internet again, later, but I kinda blew my cover, didn't I? So yeah, I've gotten better with programming. If you wondering, about that with the internet, I been kinda using here and there over at other family member houses, and whatnot. This and having to deal getting other computers because of this and that, is seeming always to somewhat sadly a usual for me. :( But anyways, sorry for extra bullcrap, that's kinda unnecessary, but I'm letting you know.) (Oh yes, another to brief, but mostly add later {The post about my return to the internet website I'm on, don't be surprised if it like a book long post. Sorry. :_ }, is about the rare bootleg company, Rocket Games. I don't know why nobody says anything about them on the wiki. But I know some things of rare facts and opinions, One, they are actually a British (?), or maybe just an European company, instead of being Taiwanese, or Chinese. Two, they seem pretty retarded and awful, because one, they steal demo ROMs that some old users on the internet make for fun, or just for as test, and/or if not that, they make VERY AWFUL games that are fully made them. I mean seriously, these guys SUCK REAL BAD. The only games, that I think are tolerable, or good are: "Karate Joe" [which pretty much is a poor clone to King of Fighters, or Street Fighters], "Painter" [which is not bad, it's just the music that isn't very good, definitely during gameplay], and "Space Invasion" [which I think is actually pretty good; it's actually better than the Taito DMG port :D] Sorry about this bullshit, again, but one last thing to add here, I think Sachen sucks worse than Makon Soft, even though, I'm out-growing them, too. >_> Seriously, either Sachen is gay or straight sometimes, and it seems like ALOT of their GameBoy games suck pretty bad, and it only seems like that only their Famicom games are more tolerable. Personally, I think Makon Soft's games are pretty good somewhat, although, I can't I like the company as much as the games. I also think Makon Soft is retarded, too. I guess that wraps this up, again, although, I feel like I'm missing something. D: Dammit! >:( Oh well. :( | )

PS: To add note about this whole post is, that I would to mention that all, except "Space Invasion", I would somewhat prefer for to find the ROMs that are NOT extra with custom programming (not necessarily counting 'fixed' ROMs of any users'), like GameBoy "Trained" ROMs (cheat code menu select ROMs, usually by [t1]). But you don't HAVE to do that, if you don't want.

I do suggest that you try just these few with a fixed ROM of Zook Hero 2, and also those last two, just as two different and separate ROMs and projects. I don't know about this, but maybe this post could the irony about it took so long for you to fix this ROM. :| (*whispers in corner* LOL.)

By the way, I'm pretty sure there is isn't an English version. I could be wrong, but I don't think there is. One thing would be, which though would be obvious, is that let's just say that there was, it would not obviously be by Li Cheng, if *anything*, it would by Vast Fame, most likely, but that's kinda already obvious. I was going to say though, is that usually bootleg games at least as I know mostly for GameBoy, are usually only in Eng(r)l(r)ish probably to be bullshit. I mean sometimes that's why there is a Chinese version only, or an Engrish only (I highly doubt the companies get any permission for these versions of bootleg games that Li Cheng makes.). Now not always I would think they're meant to be like that, because sometimes, for example, Sachen, Vast Fame (?), and Sintax, make English version games that are more better Eng*l*ish. Now these games are still pretty poor on English, but you can tell the difference when these companies try to type *good* English, truly, vs. when they try to bullshit, and joke around with the English. (I.E. reference to "2003 Digimom Sapphii / 2003 Digitmon Sapphire" (by Sintax), the word "debill")

I remember what I was going to say, since I forgot something to say, what I was going to say was that I have made multicart rips of some games that are of the multicart version, on that multicart that is dumped (I think it is Volume 4(?) of the 8-in-1s). (I will put them on the internet later.) Another to add, I've found out that, yes, the multicart versions of Sachen's games have different programming, mostly usually, it's just them making the header be additional code of some sort, and pallete data for coloring (obviously only DMG games) However, dumps of games on (?)possibly(?) the 16-in-1 and 31-in-1 only have a header change. I don't necessarily know if that is true or not, but I assume that might be true though, because I noticed when I downloaded ROM to Beast Fighter (the ROM in the link on the PGC Forum is dead) (this ROM, I found somewhere else), well, first I noticed it was the multicart version, because how the header was, but I noticed there's no pallete data. Maybe they wanted the DMG games on 31-in-1 to have monochrome, instead of cheesy coloring, like on the 8-in-1s.

honestly the only game that might help in fixing Zook Hero 2 is one of the working Rockman X3/DX3/etc versions, there really isnt much chance that some random game from another company would be any use. or what would be nice is if i could somehow figure out how to dump from other banks of vfame's multicarts, games on those are usually unprotected.

im not gonna rule out the possibility of an English Zook 2 until I find out what that "Rockman Zero" is though.

oh and Beast Fighter I'm pretty sure was only released as a single cart, and only in mono.. it's not on the 31 in 1. the 31 in 1 (formerly)-mono games all have the same crappy colouring as the 8 in 1s.

Well, first, it couldn't hurt to try along with mixing Rockman X3 and/or other Rockman DX3 versions, to also use Li Cheng's Rockman 3. 2nd, I would like for to try to do something about the original Vast Fame version of Zook Hero Z, or fix Li Cheng's version. Because I played it and I don't quite remember, but I think it had scrambled sprite problems, with the gameplay. 3rd, I know the ROM I downloaded of Beast Fighter IS a multicart version, I'm not really sure with which Sachen multicart it's from, but this ROM is one. Like I said, I know, from it being like where the header is weird and completely invalid, like if it was a multicart rip of a Sachen game.
4th, I'm sorry, but I really do mean that, I'm NOT meaning that 'it sucks', I mean it's 'homosexual', kinda along with the last picture of the intro on 'Rocman X' (Famicom version). But still, I'm sorry if that's offending. :(

First I thought it was a hacked of Mega Man Xtreme 2 (both Iris + Mega Man X edits), but the Robot Masters selection screen is not the same. Observed the HUD, it has similar style to Zooks! also, noticed the winged robot master from Zook Hero 2.

Ooh La La - Yeah, Rockman Zero does look like it could be an English version, there isnt much text in the game but it'd still be nice to see one. sadly I've never been able to find that version though :(

Chowdit - rockman dx6 does have that one glitched sprite in the beginning but that's it - it's derived from another version which had that issue too.
beast fighter's header is probably weird because its a sachen game and they have weird headers, i dunno of any multicart with that game on it.
and yeah, there is an English Zook Hero Z, theres even a Li Cheng release of it but its kinda broken (even on the real cart), crashes partway through one level.
that 口袋小葉獸~水晶版 game has been up there for ages, yahoo taiwan listings auto-relist if they end with no bids.. buying from taiwan is a ton of effort and expense if its just for one (not super-rare) game though, i'd want to put in a bigger order if i was gonna do it.

Well about that with Beast Fighter, I thought it was on the 16 in 1, but it doesn't seem to be. Sadly it looks like it mostly has the same games as the ROMs that have been dumped around the early 2000s. So, I don't know what's the deal then. I would imagine it would be a single cart version, if the whole header is like that. Usually they would that for certain coding to enter into the games from the multicart menu. So I don't know. But, (I don't know if I said this before) I have made several fixes for it to work, without requiring manual jumping of addresses and values, on the BGB. Also, I might have said this before, or maybe not, but you don't have to worry about dumping "Rocman X Gold", because, it turns out it's inside the ROM of "Thunder Blast Man". I just thought maybe you could make a post about you pulling it out of it. It seems like that "Rocman X Gold" acts as it's own 'program' in the ROM, instead of it not only having "Rocman X Gold" 's sprite data and title screen data left inside "Thunder Blast Man". I figure this because it seems like that Rockman jumps higher than TBM and that it seems like it runs extremely slightly different, but it could just be me, being sensitive and nit-picky. <_< Of course even though this kinda obvious, I forgot to add that, of course "Rocman X Gold" is locked from being launched, supposedly, but I have gotten it to launch several times on the multicart ROM, and the old "Utopia" 'trained' ROM. only one byte needs to be changed to switch between the two games.. just change the value at 2A5D from 43 to 42 and you'll get Rocman instead of Thunder Blast Man.

Thank you for that. I was going to say that, for 1, it's weird how I've never found the ROM, till now. I was either thinking, people knew it was somewhat pointless to waste money, when just making the ROM out of TBM; and/or also about me finding the ROM, I guess I never found it, until now, because I now knowing about the post, and I guess I was searching in "Rocman X 'Gold' GBC ROM", instead of "Rocman X GBC ROM". >_> Also, I was going to say that, I appreciate that info, because I will probably go do that with making a ROM for 'Rocman X Gold', out of 'Thunder Blast Man'. It might be not important to you but I'm curious about the Robot Masters name in the English translation (the names only appeared in the cutscenes and the only other source is happened to be the English game manual). It's a hit and miss if we translated the names directly based on the Chinese version due to the name variants, so...
