Crouching Lion / Hidden Crayfish

Hello it's been a while! Thanks again to yy小龙虾, I've got something cool to release today:

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (English)

This is an interesting side-scrolling RPG with a semi-active battle system, released by Gowin in 2002, and based on Wang Dulu's novel of the same name. (According to the game's packaging and Gowin's website, it was indeed licensed from the original novel, although they understandably put more emphasis on the connection to Ang Lee's film, which had been a massive success a couple of years prior)

As with all Gowin games, the English version is very rare, but a few copies have surfaced over time. This is believed to be the last game Gowin released in English (ID number GS-17), with their next and final game, Stone Age (GS-18), only having been released in Chinese.

This ROM was dumped & fixed by dhx, it should work with any emulator or flashcart:
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Unl) (Eng) [C] [Fixed].zip

We don't have the raw source for that dump, but based on that ROM & additional dumps provided by Ankos and Cris Kaiju, I was able to restore what I think the raw dump should look like:
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Unl) (Eng) [C] [Raw-Restored].zip
This is unverified for now, as we haven't been able to get a complete redump from a cartridge, but it has the original header restored and no repeated banks. Currently no emulator runs this & I haven't assigned a GBX mapper due to its unverified status.

We also have some extras to help you explore the game:
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Unl) (Eng) [C] [Hack].zip - Hacked version by dhx which adds some cheats to the game
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - Last Level Save.zip - Save file which puts you at the end of the game with everything maxed out

Scans (Chinese versions)

yy小龙虾 has also provided scans of the mainland China and Taiwan versions of the game, including manuals. I've uploaded the full set to archive.org here.

When I first started collecting bootleg/unlicensed games this was the first one I ever considered to be the "holy grail". Glad to see it is finally preserved
