li cheng extravaganza ~ part 2
More Li Cheng stuff today, and they're all new games this time! hell yeah
Gangdan Wuyu 2 钢弹物语2 (CBA064)
This is a Super Robot Wars game by SKOB (developed by the same team as the Digimon game from last time); I think it was originally released under the title Super Robot Taisen Impact (hence the leftover "Impact" on the title screen) but I'm not familiar enough with the series to tell you if it's at all based on the PS2 game of the same name. Incidentally Li Cheng's title translates to something like "Gundam Story 2".

Mingzhu Koudai Guaishou 3 明珠口袋怪兽3 (CBA065)
Well here's a surprise! This is another game originally published by SKOB (as both "Digimon D-5" and "Pokemon Sapphire"), but it was actually developed by BBD/Sintax, and it's actually really good! It's a fighting game more or less based on the Digimon Battle Spirits series, so if you've played those you may know what to expect. Perhaps even more surprising, it's tri-lingual, which I've never seen in one of these games before; you can select from Chinese, English or Spanish.
It seems to go under a few different titles; Li Cheng's game lists give the title I've used above (which translates to "Pearl Pokemon 3"), the cart label has the same name without the "3", while the Chinese title screen uses 口袋怪兽明珠版III (Pokemon Pearl Edition III). The English title (presumably unchanged from an earlier release) is "Digimon Fight" while the Spanish is the terribly-generic "El Monstruo" (The Monster).
Sadly the post-fight save screen is glitched in this version (and this does happen on the real cart too), but that shouldn't affect your enjoyment too much. Also please note that for the raw dump to work in hhugboy, "Unlicensed compatibility mode" needs to be manually set to "Li Cheng".

Shuihu Zhuan - Jingdian Ban 水浒传-经典版 (CBA073)
A decent strategy RPG by Hitek, probably best-known elsewhere for their "Terrifying 9-11" game, but most of their output in Taiwan and China consisted of this sort of thing. It's actually a port of the Mega Drive game Shui Hu Zhuan by Chuanpu (or maybe I should call them Jam Port now) - thanks to bilova for the info.
There's an odd bug in this version in that NPCs seem to have no boundary checking and will happily wander into objects and off screen; I can confirm that it doesn't happen on Hitek's original cart, so presumably this was another Li Cheng-introduced bug (although my Li Cheng cart is dead so I can't say for sure).

Yingxiong Jian 2 英雄剑2 (CBA075)
Finally, another Hitek RPG; this is the sequel to their previous game which has been dumped for a while as "Heroic Sword". The first was actually a port of the famous Taiwanese RPG "Legend of Sword & Fairy", and this one is a port of another Taiwanese RPG, Heroes of Jin Yong (thanks to money_114 for the info); a title variation was actually already dumped under the (entirely wrong) name "Bokujou Monogatari GB2 (Unl) [C]".

Some very interesting games here, good releases! :)
Finally, the "original latinization" has been dumped! (That game with El Monstruo title)
Not like this is interesting to anybody bere but SKOB games apparently were coded in GBDK (using C, not straight assembly like most gameboy games). Interesting to see some real world usage of GBDK.
here*
Shuihu Zhuan - Jingdian Ban is a port of Zhui Hu Zhuan on Genesis from Chuanpu, if no one noticed.
Yingxiong Jian 2 was actually a port of the famous Taiwanese RPG "Heroes of Jin Yong".

Bokujou Monogatari GB2 (Unl) [C] in GoodGBx v3.14 with a hacked title screen. The name from rominfo though it"s wrong.
Sanky - well it's interesting to me, i was always kinda curious about whether these unlicensed developers would use homebrew dev tools or roll their own.
bilova, money_114 - thanks for the info! i'll update the post
i never know there actualy a unlincesed digimon battle spirit game but on GAME BOY COLOR skob are possibility the best developers along with Vast of Fame's :)
Digimon Fight completed.
Since they kept the original English and Spanish title screens in Digimon Fight, it's no surprise that Li Cheng also left the original Chinese title screen present but unused. It's located at 0x214EF4, with the title "口袋電子獸 D-5".
Gangdan Wuyu 2 is't play to round2…it is down
kl - could you send me a save file from that point please? i'll have a look into it.
@Taizou
I will need for you to fix up, what I was trying to do with more than a Header fix on 明珠口袋怪兽III. Yes, I was being smart about, it's just I made a mistake, I blame Li Cheng's terrible programming. I mean there's just SO many RAM address jumps that are just unnecessary. This may seem stupid now, but just you see (soon).
@Taizou
I forgot to mention that the Li Cheng version of 明珠口袋怪兽III seems to also have garbage pictures. I mean some of the pictures in the game are glitched up. So as I send you the ROM, do you mind fixing that as well?
yeah the glitches in that game happen on the real cart, i literally mentioned that in the post already.
@Taizou
Oh. I didn't see that. Sorry.
스타~~!! 번쩍~~!! 열러라참꺠~~~~~!!!!!
Digimon Saphire by Vast Fame (Game Boy Color) Why isn't this dumped either? Guess.
The gameplay of Gangdan Wuyu 2 doesn't resemble Super Robot Taisen IMPACT at all... It seems to be based on SD Gundam G Generation F(it was a PSX game). The game engine is updated from SKOB's previous Super Robot Taisen F to fit the G Generation mechanics which is slightly different from Super Robot Taisen series.

A port of the first Metal Slug game, also features an intro based on 9/11 events.
Completed Gangdan Wuyu 2(it's 20 stages long) but it seems to have some emulation issues... I think you'll need both raw dump and fixed ROM to beat the game.
Using raw dump with hhugboy usually works well(The header fix-2 ROM crashs after stage 1), but Stages 6, 9 and 17 seems to glitch up to unplayable state in hhugboy. Since hhugboy fails with both raw dump and fixed ROM at those stages, you need to use some other emulators with header fixed ROM for playing those stages. Visualboyadvance worked quite well for those stages, though it showed garbled map graphics.
明珠口袋怪兽3
Since Gangdan Wuyu 2 lets you play back previous stages for training your characters, I was able to examine more about the difference between three emulators : hhugboy(1.0), bgb(1.12) and Visualboyadvance(1.8.0).
hhugboy(Both raw dump and header fix-2 seems to behave the same)
Stage 6 : Produces two glitch units on the map and you're stuck
Stage 9 : Crashs if it is accessed from Stage 8, playing back with "training" option is just fine
Stage 17 : Freezes right after the map is shown
bgb(using header fix-2)
Stage 2 : The game crashes with white screen
Stage 6 : Produces two glitch units on the map and you're stuck
Stage 13 : The game crashes with white screen
Stage 17 : The map is garbled and game freezes after some units appear on the map
Visualboyadvance(using header fix-2)
Stage 2 and 13 : The game crashes with white screen
Stage 6, 9 and 17 : Plays fine beside the map graphic is garbled, but loading this map will ERASE YOUR MAIN SAVE DATA so you need to beat the stage and save your game again. "On-the-map" quick save data seems to be unaffected by this.
Maps used in stages 6, 9 and 17 have desert tile graphic in common, so I think that might be causing the problem...
Thanks for dumping games!
OH MY GOD YES I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR DIGIMON FIGHT FOR SO LONG
Hey, while i was playing with the Digimon Fight rom on a HEX editor i discovered how to re-enable the original chinese title screen.
Just go to offset 210028, change value 01 to 00 and voila, whem you select the chinese language option, it will display the original Koudai Dianzi Shou D-5 title screen instead of Li-Cheng Mingzhu Koudai Guaishou 3 one.
And i also found out how to re-enable SKOB logo at the start, all you need to do is to change the following values:
348000 = change C9 to 00
348018 = change E1 to 00
348019 = change E1 to 00
34801A = change E1 to 00
34C000 = change C9 to 00
34C018 = change E1 to 00
34C019 = change E1 to 00
34C01A = change E1 to 00
I din't tested it thoroughly, but i don't think any major issues will pop out.
